Hometown vs. My Town

Hometown vs. My Town

Hometown vs. My Town by saraheoutlet featuring cross jewelry

I have mentioned before that I am a Southern girl born and raised. Although I have avoided mud ridin', hunting in the cold weather, and saying," Well, I declare", I have deep southern roots and values like the boy should always ask for your number first and there is nothing wrong with walking outside barefooted( 'cause God made dirt, so it don't hurt). But today while taking the ACTs (familiarizing myself with the test now an upcoming sophomore) I realized how there is a common outfit worn among girls in my town. Guy Harvey shirts, whatever pair of freshly washed Nike shorts, and neon Nike Free tennis shoes is the uniform I see on a daily basis. Most girls have their James Avery promise ring or a friendship bracelet to distinguish themselves, but an out of towner would still think there was some type of memo sent each night about the next day's outfit. When I am out at a local boutique, I usually see a girl dressed in Nikes browsing through items that are quite funky and would set them apart. Sadly, they put the item back with a shake of the head, probably scared of what a friend might say. But that is the wonderful thing about fashion- what a person might say. My friend, Travis, once said,"If a person does not say WTF at least once a day about my outfit, then I have done my job." That's why I designed "My Town" outfit around pieces that were head turners. Thanks to my mom- always pushing me to be a risk taker with fashion- printed wide leg pants (preferably high waisted)  are becoming a staple in my closet. The pants are such an easygoing way of taking on high fashion or the hobo chic look. They can easily styled with a loose cropped white tank or a V- Neck tied into a side knot. Since I am shortie( 5'2), wedges come in handy. The right wedge can either dress up the outfit or tone it down. And it would not be a talk worthy outfit without some type of unique ring. So Superstars, I dare you to dress outside of your hometown standards even if you live in the U.S.'s fashion capital N.Y.C.
