Hello Superstars,
Guess what? My accutane journey is over. Yes, I am finally off the medication that caused me so many troubles. My journey lasted FIVE months, but I finally experienced something I hadn't in FIVE years, clear skin. Now, I can say accutane is my friend. A few weeks ago I hated the medicine.
Honestly, there aren't any cons of the medication until you get off of it. While on accutane, I went through hell. I lost a good portion of my hair which resulted in my bob. I gained weight from not being able to workout due to body sores and my hair turning into one big frizz ball. I had swollen gums. My lips cracked like crazy. I had to go through fall without being able to wear plum lip colors. My parents constantly complained about the amount of money my doctor visits were costing them. I had to start wearing long sleeve shirts all the time to hide my ezcema. The list goes on and on.
I am extremely grateful to have clear skin. Will I do accutane again? I pray I will not have to. Am I scared I'll get acne again? Heck, yes. Until that time*crosses fingers it won't happen*, I am going to enjoy my beautiful skin.
Superstars, if you ever consider taking accutane remember it is a big commitment. It will take a lot out of you emotionally, physically, and financially. In the end, it'll be worth it. Plus, you'll have cool stories to tell like "For five months straight, I had to get my blood taken", or " There was a time I looked like a caveman because I had no idea what to do with my brows."
Love ya,
Sarah E.
