What Would Sarah Wear... New Year's Eve

Hello Superstars,

Contrary to belief, I am not a social butterfly a.k.a. I'm not invited to any New Year's Eve parties. Hey, don't feel bad for me. I'm only sixteen. What good happens at "teen New Year's Eve" party?

I am awaiting the day I am invited to a true party. One that is very Gatsby- esque and involves a hunky guy by my side. Most of you will be spending December 31st that way. Or something close to my imagination.

Due to finals and making time for family, some of y'all have lost time to find an iconic outfit to wear to ring in the new year. Don't worry, Sarah E. is here.

This  post is going to help any girl that is a bit of a procrastinator or on a "Ramen noodle every night" kind of budget. Let's get into it!

Outfit

Since you didn't have anytime early on in December to find an outfit, I'm sure you don't have time days before to go out and find an ensemble. That's why you have a closet that already has key pieces to create a glamorous look.
If you have read my blog before, then you will know I am firm believer that everyone should own a white shirt. I don't care if it is a white V-neck from Target or a white button down you have stolen from your Dad's closet, it is important that you own one. Feel free to wear any white ( you want the shirt to be whiter than your teeth) shirt of your choice, but I prefer a more baggier fit.

I know you are thinking, this outfit is too simple for a New Year's Eve outfit. Don't worry, simple, key pieces are the foundation to a "Superstar" worthy outfit. On the left, is an image of the oh- so trendy tuxedo pant. Don't think the pant is only for a guy to wear on his wedding day. The pant is sold by brands ranging from Old Navy to J Brand. I'm sure some of you ladies own a pair in your closet. If you don't, then go ahead and pull out your "night on the town" shorts from summer. The ones in the center are my favorite since they are high waisted. Anything high waisted is perfect because it pulls in your waist( giving the baggy shirt a more shaped look) and can make an outfit look more put together. It is completely fine to wear the short with a bare leg. Heck, it's New Year's Eve. Or you can choose to wear a tight like a fishnet. I am very kind for throwing in this next option for a bottom, the legging. Leggings are probably the most controversial clothing piece because girls just have no clue of how to wear them. Take a sit and open your eyes. I'm about to tell you the proper way of wearing the legging on New Year's Eve.

1. Make sure the legging is in EXCELLENT condition. Meaning, a)your rear end or the underwear you have own since the seventh grade are not showing. If you have to, wear a thong. b) Your legging is not prone to rip in any place that night. I'm sure you are probably going to drop it like it's hot
( Beyonce and Lady Gaga both have came out with new albums. There's a high chance you are going to dance the night away). It would be extremely embarrassing and sad if you had to leave a party early because of a rip.

2. Do not wear a cropped legging. Girlfriend, you better wear a legging that goes pass your calves and touches your ankles.

It's not that hard to properly wear a legging.

My next tip for your outfit is finding a local thrift store. I am certain that you will find a piece that will make your outfit pop. Maybe it will be a fur jacket or a denim vest that will raise the bar for your outfit, but there will be something there to take it to the next level.

Here are a few tips for shoes:

1. If you want the look to be edgy, go with a combat or studded moto boot.

2. If you want the look to be classy- glam, go with a black bootie with a slight heel.

3. If you want the look to scream "I am here", wear a bold pump. Maybe a pair that is cobalt blue or printed pair. Hey, maybe you are lucky and own a pair of Jeffrey Campbells.

You have a shoe in your closet that will fit one of the looks. Please, do not wear the sneaker wedge.

Jewelry

I absolutely love the holidays because you can wear as many statement jewelry pieces as you want. Go all out with your Forever 21 bangles. Wear the chandelier earrings you bought from Claire's. Search through your grandmother's jewelry and a find a brooch or a ring or a necklace that will have people pointing at you all night. You want to shine brighter than the fireworks in the sky.

Makeup

With makeup, I am all about the neutral eye. Pat a champagne color on the lid and a highlight in the inner corner, and you will be good... that is if you take a few more minutes and apply false eyelashes. Many of you know that this will create a huge difference in your look.

Do not be afraid of doing the fish face in the mirror. It is going to help you tremendously with applying blush and bronzer, which are two products that will lively up your face. After you are done applying those products, use the same inner corner eyeshadow color  as a highlight. A highlight is going to look great in the selfies you will be taking that night.

Use these lipsticks as a guide for your lip color choice of the night. Anyone of these colors, will be the perfect bold to pull your makeup AND  outfit together.

Nails

Your nails should be a representation of New Year's Eve. They should be sparkly, bold, and memorable.

Hair

Whether you are going through your "lob" phase or your " long hair, don't care" phase, all you need is a curling iron (one for your hair length), hairspray, and your fingers. Your fingers are the perfect tool for teasing and fluffing your hair to create a voluminous, somewhat messy look.

Superstars, I hoped I have helped you in some way. The holidays are busy and expensive. By the time New Year's Eve comes, we don't have the strength or funds to create a catchy look. That's why it is important to work with the items you have in your closet.

                                                       Style It Up Superstars,
                                                                Sarah E.
